Her Story

The youngest of five, June Cole grew up in Brooklyn, NY with a love of the arts and a thirst for knowledge, two areas of interest that would endure through her adult life.

As a Communications student at Pace University, June worked as a part-time receptionist at Sony Music, before cutting her teeth in Marketing and A&R at Uptown Records that produced giants to the likes of Sean “Puffy” Combs.

June moved to Island Records and Mercury Records as a marketing Assistant before succumbing to the pressure of her Jamaican family to find a more “secure” job – ultimately transitioning to education.

June’s first foray into teaching came from her childhood love of gymnastics. She transitioned to the classroom teaching Computer Science and English in a Bronx public school, where she used her entertainment experience to teach middle school students the ins and outs of the music business. She educated them on the value of each person’s position on the team beyond just the singer or musician with the talent – highlighting the importance of the many different divisions behind the scenes that go into the creation of the final product they see in stores or on television. June’s approach was very much in alignment with getting all components involved, similar to the way the industry has adopted the 360-deal.

June spent several years in New York City bridging the gap while gaining more experience in education by training teachers, working as a literacy/reading specialist and creating charter school curriculum before relocating to South Florida.

June’s marketing prowess came into play with recruiting and enrollment as the principal of two charter schools. She continued developing curriculum at several schools, worked as an AP Coordinator and literary specialist, and then ventured to Barry University to receive her doctorate.

In her time away from the public school system, the enterprising Brooklynite developed a successful tutoring company and worked as a consultant in educational transformation for various schools.

After two decades, June tired of the politics of the traditional education system and answered the call of the entertainment industry. Her reputation and work ethic led her to an opportunity working with the brand management team behind nationally syndicated radio host Tamara G, in addition to producing galas, seminars, plays, art exhibits and fundraising events in Miami.

However, June noticed the benefits of arts & cultural events that her hometown experienced were not mirrored in Miami. She realized there needed to be a grander focus on education in the arts as well as performance for South Florida to flourish in the ways that her hometown New York City has continued to do culturally.

June recognized she had the passion and skill to produce positive media and events that emphasize education – what she calls “edumedia”. Here, she developed the concept for June Cole Creative Agency. The timing could not be better because in the last five years, there has been a shift of authentic acceptance and embracing of cultural diversity in the marketplace. She takes her expertise in creating curriculum for the classroom to the stage, effectively drawing up lesson plans for attendees of her colorful events while making it as fun and interactive as she did so early in her teaching career.

June is accustomed to bringing her ideas to successful completion and implementation. Her marketing and management experience with her educational background are the ingredients that will ensure the success of June Cole Creative Agency.
